My Top Five: Despicable F1 Creations

L7M is back with another 'My Top 5' series. This time we have a look at the 5 ugliest  F1 cars ever created. This doesn't necessary mean it were bad cars, but boy, oh boy did we find them despicable. So despicable, our eyes were automatically drawn to them and made us shiver.

5. Tower/extra wings (e.g. Tyrrell 97, Ferrari & Prost 98 , Arrows 02).

My F1 Top Five: F1 Drivers Crashing In Feeder Series

It's time for another My F1 Top 5. This time we searched for our Top 5 F1 drivers with the craziest or in hindsight historic crashes before they entered F1. For example crashes in their F3 or GP2 time, the feeder series for one so to say. None of the drivers were (seriously) injured during these accidents.

5 songs we like: First Edition

In ‘5 songs we like’ L7M selects 5 songs in random order from the past or present. Music from every genre could end up in these top 5 lists. All examples are from youtube and not posted by me.

Anouk – Heaven Knows: She was born on 8 april 1975 and is one of the best artist the Netherlands ever saw. In 1997 she released her first hit single and has released 11 albums since then. The song Heaven Knows came from her 2005 album Hotel New York which reached diamond status. Anouk is definitely a world class artist.

Masters Of Formula 3: 2011 Preview

This weekend (13 & 14 August) the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3 will take place at Zandvoort. Formerly the most important European F3 race of the season, in which the best F3 drivers of Europe compete against each other. Now, the Masters of F3 forms the 4th of five events in the inaugural FIA Formula 3 International Trophy. One thing will probably stay the same though, the winner of the Masters Of F3 has a high chance of ending up in Formula 1. Former winners that reached F1 are e.g. Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hülkenberg, Paul di Resta, Christian Klien, Takuma Sato, David Coulthard, and Jos Verstappen.

Having said that, a certain announcement made a few weeks ago, was a small let down before this years 21st edition even starts. Only one team, Carlin Motorsports, of the British F3 Championship will be present this weekend. This means that the field will consist out of 19 drivers. Only the first edition of the Masters in 1991 produced a smaller grid.

So why are the British F3 teams not joining? The most heard reason is unfair competition. They say the F3 Euro Series drivers have already raced in Zandvoort in May of this year. One thing that is for certain is the following fact: since the creation of the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2003, every single Masters of F3 has been won by a Euro Series driver. One other important thing to note is that Felipe Nasr, leader of the British F3 Championship and racing for Carlin Motorsport, won’t participate. Reason is his management ‘doesn’t see the need’.

Most of these British F3 drivers won’t be present during the 2011 Masters Of F3 edition

Beitske Visser (16) takes sensational win in Dutch Supercar Challenge.

Beitske Visser is a well known face in the karting scene. Through her performances in this category, she earned an wildcard to participate in the Dutch Supercar Challenge (DSC), GT division in Assen. The GT division is the highest rated within the DSC.

Remember that Visser, 16 years old, had no experience with sport car racing. As could be expected there were some doubters, but Visser eagerly accepted the challenge.

My F1 Top 5: Fan(s) On Track

The days that the F1 public invaded the track, before all the cars were in the pits is 'long' gone. We at L7M understand why, but looking at old pictures & videos, you should agree with us, that the old track invasions were a beautiful sight. On the other hand there were also moments where an idiot ran on the F1 track while the race was still going on. These 'fan(s)' probably wanted there minute of fame or picked the wrong moment to ask attention for some cause they believed in. We at L7M combined these two groups of track invaders and created another My F1 Top 5: Fan(s) on track.

5. Catalunya, 2004: During the warm-up lap a 'fan' ran over the starting grid with a banner. What was written on the banner is not clear, but the Marshalls got rid of the 'fan' before the drivers lined up for the start of the spanish GP

Edwin van der Sar: One Of The Best!

Edwin van der Sar officially ended his active Football career with a tribute match in his honor on 03-08-2011. A lot of big names showed including Rooney, Giggs, Bergkamp, Rijkaard and Ferdinand. We at L7M thought this would be the perfect time to write a little tribute, our way, about this fantastic goalkeeper.

Van der Sar, 29-10-1970, started his professional football career at Ajax in 1990. During the 1992/93 season he had his big breakthrough when he replaced Stanley Menzo as Ajax’s number 1 goalkeeper. He would stay at Ajax for 9 years and won 13 titles with them. The highlight of this period was definitely the 1994 and 1995 in which he, while being part of the golden generation of Ajax, won the Dutch title, Johan Cruijff Shield, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup.

Van der Sar scored his one and only goal, in his career, during his period with ajax.

My F1 Top 5: Radio Moments

Over the years we have heard alot of F1 radio messages being broadcasted. The radio messages that entered millions of homes were sometimes interesting, boring, emotional or funny. We at L7M have selected 5 F1 radio messages that we really liked.

5. Felipe Massa, Malaysia 2009. Sometimes a F1 driver needs to be calmed down. During the Malaysian GP Rob Smedley, felt the need to do exactly that. Felipe Massa wasn't the calmest person at this particular moment, but Smedley was this the way to do it?

Lay: My Weight

Lay is finally in the building people! I know the crew of L7M introduced me a while back as their TweetMan and were nice enough to give me my own section. Much thanks (L7M), i know these are just two small words, but CAPSLOCK them in your mind.

I know what you were thinking after you read there introduction! Is he beautifull? YES, but there is one problem. I got fat. Well not fat fat, but the statement that i'm a bit lazy is true and Lazy & Age don't mix well. Hey you can't blame me, i'm repping my nickname. People gave it to me and i'm going to honor it (to some degree).

Ok now that we got out of the way that i'm a beautifull person (and fat) i can notify you all what my first theme will be: My Weight!

In 1992 Gastón decided to compete in the Argentine Datsun Touring series, but quickly went back to single seaters and participated in the South American F3 championship in 1993. However, Gastón knew it was necessary to race in Europe, if he wanted to realize his F1 dream. So in 1994 he left Argentina and entered the Italian Formula 2000 series, which he won that same year. He would also race two rounds of the Italian F3 championship, before going through a full season in 1995. His results weren’t impressive, but he was able to obtain a F3000 race seat for 1996 and raced in this championship for 3 seasons.

My F1 Top 5: A little shaken, but i'm OK

Today L7M proudly present their first 'My Top 5'. At the moment this section will mostly consist off 'My F1 Top 5'. Todays title is 'A little shaken, but i'm ok. Meaning this Top 5 consist of drivers who crashed pretty hard, but could get out of the car pretty much unharmed. It could be that they were a little dizzy and offcourse felt some pain, but not so much that thay had too miss a qualifying or race.

5. Jos Verstappen, Spa 1996

Bruce 'Nunchucks ping pong' Lee

Lee Jun-fan, 27 November 1940 - 20 July 1973, became known to the world as Bruce Lee. He was e.g. a martial arts instructor, founder of the Jeet Kune Do martial arts movement, actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and philosopher. Honestly this iconic figure needs no further introduction, but is it known that he used Nunchucks to play ping pong?

This video was part of a brilliant Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Edition Promo Campaign.
Yes, it's not real. Yes, it's old. However it's still a masterpiece and deserves to be in ling7mags entertainment section!

Lay (The Crazy1)

Lay (The Crazy1) has joined ling7magazines (L7M) crew. We have put him in charge of running ling7magazines twitter page @ling7mag. Well to be honest putting in charge are the wrong words, since we sort of handed the twitter page to him. This means that he's free to post everyday stuff involving him and his thoughts. There are only 2 rules he needs to follow:
1) he makes sure he tweets about our site updates
2) he doesn't go tweet crazy, meaning keep the tweets in check (not more than +/- 7 tweets a day)

Furthermore, he will have his own section in ling7magazine. He says he will let his creative mind go to work and drop creative or funny articles, song lyrics, scripts etc etc. To sum up: whatever pops up in his mind. We will see how this works out, because Lay stands 4 La(z)y.

The only thing that L7M can say about Lay is that he's crazy, strange, and hilarious.

We hope this works out well and from now on this section, which carries his name for the obvious reasons, is his! We would like to say 'Lay blow us away'.

T: Aw Lewis what a surprise. Simon or Martin sent you?

L: Does it matter!

T: No, so a rainy Silverstone. However let’s reflect on the last 3 races ok?

L: Monaco was a joke, an absolute frickin’ joke. Canada was obviously not good for either driver, we’ve looked at it and think it’s a racing incident. Then in Valencia I finished. We made some positive pit-stop improvements there.

T: Yeah let’s talk about Monaco real quick. You messed up!

L: All the tension just boiled up. I had some time to reflect and I feel it was just a bad weekend in the office. I apologized, I think it was the right thing for me to do and to be able to put everything behind me. I just try ….”

T: Lewis, i’m talking about you messing up Ali G’s Line! It’s ‘Is it cos I is black?’, NOT ‘maybe because I’m black’. That’s not what Ali G says! Quote him right man. (Lewis trying to interrupt) Nah hold up. I feel for ya.
